Our Philosophy
At Little Disciples we believe…
Teachers are to nurture children’s development and spiritual growth by providing quality learning opportunities. We do this through teaching these experiences with God’s word and Christian principles.
In John Dewey’s theories that children learn through hands-on experiences, real life situations, and working cooperatively with their peers and others.
In assessing each child’s strengths and needs to reach their language, cognitive, motor skills, emotional and social goals to help facilitate children to reach their highest potential.
Curriculum designed to teach children through developmentally appropriate practices. The children learn through a play based exploration process that encourages cognitive development, this will result in further problem solving, perceptual literacy, and processing skills, among many others.
Children are to be encouraged to develop self-efficacy and pro-social skills, as well as inspiring their creativity and using their imaginations. Through careful observations and assessments we will modify the environment and curriculum to meet each child’s needs and encourage full participation as well as engagement in activities to optimize their learning experiences.
In Maria Montessori’s theory, the environment is important in fostering children’s learning. The classrooms offer real materials that children have easy access to for them to create, learn, and explore within in a pleasing, harmonious environment designed to foster and inspire children’s learning.
Our school is an important part of Western Montana’s early childhood development, and every family is important to strengthen our school, family, and community.
Parents are the children’s first and most impactful teachers. We believe families should always be involved in the children’s education. Through working together we will be able to help each child feel the classroom is part of their home, and give them a sense of belonging.
This is the reason we create an environment filled with love and understanding where; children feel they belong, are respected, and are proud of themselves and their family. We will use positive guidance techniques to encourage children to grow and develop by observing and assessing the child’s progress, and making strategic plans to help each child achieve their goals and promote success.
